With the objective of honorably carrying on the legacies of my own teachers, Don Kunz and Irwin Rubin, I offer classes in traditional calligraphy and illumination, penmanship as well as a highly specialized method of freehand pencil drawing, which through “deconstruction” teaches the creative brain to think three-dimensionally.
Multiple-week courses and one-session workshops for tweens, teens and adults are offered at local art centers and galleries on a rolling basis. Private in-home instruction is also available upon request.
As part of my 90-north Arctic outreach education program, classes on indigenous visual folk arts of the peoples of the Circumpolar North are also on offer to academic and cultural institutions. For more information, please click here.
Additionally, traditional Ukrainian “pysanky” egg-writing workshops can be arranged for Scout groups and interested students of all ages.
So… chart your own unique course in life. Allow your ideas to flourish like the decorative swashes added to Italic scripts. Nurture your creativity. Strive to make the world more beautiful…
“Like everything else in our culture, we declare its value by what we teach or do not teach our children. [….] I do believe that typing is a very fundamental tool that children need to learn; however, they should not be learning it at the expense of handwriting… we need to be good stewards of both.” ~Jake Weidmann
